Program Overview
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate care to individuals with broad -spectrum conditions by assisting them with their activities of daily living, including clients experiencing cognitive impairment, physical disability, and mental health challenges.
With your help, these individuals will be able to lead fulfilling and active lives. During the PSW program, students will participate in supervised practices, in both community settings and nursing homes.
The hands-on approach provides students with an opportunity to practice their new skills in a professional setting, gain experience whilst practicing effective communication and collaboration. Student clinical placements are arranged and scheduled by the school.

PSWs are in high demand in Ontario; Graduates may find entry-level employment in a variety of care settings including community, retirement homes, long-term care homes, and hospitals.
Program Length
Total Program Length = 700 hrs
PLUS CPR & First Aid.
25 weeks
- Ontario secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
- All potential students seeking admission into PSW program must pass a literacy test.
- Indicating that the student has up-to-date immunization.
- CPR & First Aid Certificates – Students must complete STANDARD FIRST AID and BASIC RESCUER CPR prior to clinical placement.
- Vulnerable Sector Police check within 45 days from program start date
